Recap of Digital/Social Media Marketing
Recap of Digital/Social Media Marketing
Overview:
Digital/Social Media Marketing was one of the last classes I will be taking for my bachelor's degree at SBU. I am in my last semester here and I only have one more class to take in the second 8 weeks of school. This class has taught me many things and has gotten me many certifications through Google that I can hopefully use in my future career later on in life. I have learned how to use Canva better for marketing, how to use social media for marketing as well as a specific brand that does a very good job on this. I have also learned how to use emails for marketing, how to maximize search engine optimization, how to maximize Google Business Profiles, and how to even use Google Ads Display.
My Favorites of the Course:
Below is going to be a brief summary of a few of my favorite things I learned in this class. These are things I not only enjoyed doing, but also things that I will most likely use in my future career as well.
1. Canva as a Marketing tool - Canva is a popular and user-friendly design platform that students, businessmen, and professionals use to create presentations, logos, blogs, and marketing materials. Canva offers a free version with essential tools and a premium Canva Pro version with extended assets, team collaboration, and priority support. The most business-oriented Canva Enterprise is designed to work with businesses, giving them real-time collaboration and branding customization. Canva provides many templates consisting of presentations, resumes, infographics, and YouTube thumbnails. Users can upload and edit presentations, record themselves, or access pre-made educational lessons. It is especially useful for students, as it allows them to do work efficiently, professionally, and visually attractively. The free version is sufficient for most purposes, while the Pro version offers advanced features. Additionally, Canva is a means for marketers to easily create and share ads, brochures, and videos, thus it becomes a key tool for creativity and productivity.
2. Email as a Marketing Tool - Email marketing is a cost-effective and customized method for companies to notify clients, advertise goods, and increase sales. It enables companies to create customized advertisements, evaluate client information, and stay in close communication with their target audience. Additionally, emails do not cost anything, so companies can concentrate on increasing brand awareness. Email marketing strategies that actually work encompass advanced re-targeting and personalization to customize the message, AI-generated campaigns for better customer relations, and so on. Mailing list interfaces can also be made more engaging with surveys, and promotions. If carried out properly—without resorting to spam and presenting them with worthwhile content—email marketing can actually be one of the most powerful weapons of your advertising strategy. It is a cost-effective and impactful tool that, in addition to this, also does not get the deserved credit and as a result, remains underused in the industry.
3. Social Media as a Marketing Tool - Social media is becoming more and more popular and this makes it an elite tool for marketing. A business should, then, consider its prospective customers, their tastes, and the resources that are readily available before identifying the best platform. Smaller businesses may find familiar platforms highly beneficial, but larger corporations could choose the professional network LinkedIn as their target audience. A strategy for social media marketing should include the following items: a content calendar, a clear and interesting message, and authenticity when you build your brand. Social media marketing is not only visually appealing but also provides opportunities for consumers to interact with brands and therefore should be entertaining. A company that utilizes social media as its primary marketing tool exhibits innovative and adaptive qualities, which in turn gives it a competitive advantage. If social media tends to grow more, and the businesses that implement it in the right way will hopefully be able to gain more brand visibility and engagement with their customers, thus including it more and more is going to be a significant part of the marketing strategy in the coming years.
Overall, I think this course has been very beneficial for me and will hopefully be stuff I use in the future one day in my professional career. This course has taught me many things that I have listed above, and so much more as well. Learning how to use digital and social media in the growing world will be something that will always be present in the business world. If I am able to help my future company use these tips and tricks to become even more successful, it will be thanks to this class. I really enjoyed this class and the things I learned from it.
